A note from the founder
I’m not looking for a good Marketing Manager. There are plenty of those. I’m looking for someone exceptional. It’s not you if you’re not the kind of marketer who has consistently stood out on every team you’ve previously worked.
If you've spent your career doing marketing activity without being able to show what that activity did for the business, please stop reading, this isn't for you. If you measure your value by how many documents you produce rather than what changes in the business, this isn't the role. And if your idea of marketing leadership is producing a 50-page deck, handing it to somebody else and waiting for them to execute it, this definitely isn't for you. Please stop reading and share this with someone else.
If ambiguity makes you uncomfortable, if you've never personally managed meaningful paid acquisition, this isn't the role; and if you need me to give you a list of tasks every morning, please don't apply.
If you're brilliant at talking about marketing but struggle to make things happen, or if you want the title of manager but don't want to get into the work, this isn't the role.
And if you've read this far thinking, "this isn't me, but I know exactly who this is…" please, would you do me a favour?
Send it to the best marketer you've ever worked with. The annoyingly good one. The one you'd hire yourself, if you were running an organisation because that's who I’m trying to find. When you send it to them, ask them to mention your name. If they get shortlisted, I promise, I’ll compensate you.
I’m looking for you if your colleagues turn to when the campaign isn't converting, and nobody can quite work out why. You look at a funnel and immediately start asking questions. Why did they click? Why didn't they convert? Why are leads dropping off here? Why don’t we add more touch points?
Why did this creative outperform the other one? Why are we paying this much to acquire this customer? Why are sales saying the leads aren't good enough? And most importantly: What are we going to do about it?
If you're great at paid advertising, I'll want to know what you spent, what the price point was, if it was a low or high ticket, what ad formats you tested, what worked, what failed, your ROAS and your impact on the bottomline.
If you say you're great at funnels, I'll want to see what you've built. If you say you're strategic, you should be able to take your strategy and explain it clearly on one page.
You could be sitting at your beautiful work from home space in Lagos, New Delhi, Manila or elsewhere in the world while marketing primarily to Nigerians in the UK. That means you cannot rely on assumptions or ChatGPT. I’m looking for someone who will become obsessed with getting to know the organisation’s target audience.
If this is you, you will be excited about being on the frontline of the battlefield. Listening to sales calls. Speaking to customers. Studying objections. Reading comments. Understanding competitors. Learning and understanding UK culture in relation to our audience.
You’re eager to understand what our customers want, what they're afraid of, what makes them hesitate, what makes them trust us and ultimately what makes them buy. I’m sure you already know that marketing starts with the market.
Speaking of battlefield, I only want a marketing manager who is fascinated about leading from the front and getting their hands dirty. This is how I lead and it’s the only kind of leadership that I appreciate.
Eventually, I want you to build and lead a great marketing team. But this isn't a role for you if your preference is to lead from behind.
You must be comfortable opening Ads Manager yourself. You should understand how to systematically test creatives, hooks, audiences, offers and landing pages.
You must understand TOF, MOF and BOF, not because you memorised the acronyms, but because you've built customer journeys, and understand the large market formula and human psychology.
You should be capable of getting into a CRM and understanding the automation (we currently use GHL). You should understand email marketing. You should know what an excellent copy looks like. You should know what excellent content, graphic, or video look like. You should be able to interrogate analytics. You should be able to build or improve a landing page.
And you should be able to turn a mess of marketing data into something I can understand and make a decision from in five minutes.
You won't do all of those things alone. I’ll build a solid team for you to lead.
But you must first show me that you understand each aspect of marketing deeply enough to know what excellent execution looks like, and be willing to jump in yourself when required.
If you’re still reading my letter. Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Olatomide Fadipe, the founder of Secure Wealth Group.
As a founder-led UK organisation, we’re building a group of businesses and brands around UK property ownership, investment, education and wealth creation.
Secure Wealth Group is commercially viable, with tested offers and excellent reviews. We have the expertise, customers, referrals from customers, and returning customers. So, I know we are building something the market finds valuable.
So, I’m looking only for the very best, because this organisation is ready to scale, we're prepared to deploy tens of thousands of pounds per month into paid acquisition as we identify scalable opportunities.
What I now need is the person who can bring those pieces together and build the engine. To put it all out on the table, we’re two-years old, so you're not joining an already established marketing function. Rather, I’m offering you the unique opportunity to build your dream marketing team, the kind of high-creative and high-performing team you’ve visualised and wished for recently.
Currently, our brand and commercial ecosystem include:
I’m a founder willing to be highly visible and be involved in marketing. So, there is my own personal brand, which supports the organisation’s ecosystem through investor and property education, thought leadership, property content, speaking engagement and media.
Your sole mission will be to generate a predictable and measurable flow of qualified sales opportunities for Secure Wealth Group. This is your only job, and that is the only thing that would really matter to me. Not followers. Not likes. Not “brand awareness” with no commercial benefit behind it.
I want to see qualified opportunities, and I want to see it being consistent and predictable to allow scale.
So, I’ve mapped out your first priority once I get you onboarded. You'll initially focus heavily on the Secure Wealth Academy brand. I want you to build a serious acquisition engine around our education, mentorship and property strategy implementation high-ticket offers.
Then you'll help us systematically scale our Done For You property-investment business.
Alongside client acquisition, you'll help me solve another interesting problem, so I expect that you know branding. How do SWG, SWPG, SWA, Blueprint for Freedom and my personal brand work together without becoming the same brand?
I know each needs a clear identity, each needs a reason to exist, each needs an appropriate content engine, and collectively, they should make our ecosystem stronger. Can you help architect this?
Let’s talk about your credentials, I’m personally not obsessed with credentials. So, you don't need a marketing degree. You don't need CIM after your name. You don't need to have worked for a famous company.
I know for sure that somebody with five exceptional years who is hungry for enormous success can absolutely beat somebody with fifteen mediocre ones.
So, I want to see evidence, show me what you've built, how you’re exceptional, show me that you’re self motivated and a go-getter, show me the numbers, show me what went wrong, show me what you learned, show me what you changed, show me the commercial results you’ve achieved.
So, I want to see evidence, show me what you've built, how you’re exceptional, show me that you’re self motivated and a go-getter, show me the numbers, show me what went wrong, show me what you learned, show me what you changed, show me the commercial results you’ve achieved.
I’m going to expect and demand results from you. And I want you to expect a lot from me too. You'll work directly with me as the founder & CEO. You'll have a real marketing budget to deploy. You'll have the freedom to test ideas intelligently. You'll have a budget for professional development, training and relevant conferences. And I'll give you support towards creating an excellent home-working setup.
You'll be eligible for performance-related bonuses tied to genuine commercial outcomes. Subject to agreed performance criteria, you'll have the opportunity for a fully-funded annual visit to the UK.
As the organisation develops, there may also be an opportunity to relocate to the UK and continue your career here, subject to applicable immigration, sponsorship and employment requirements.
This is your dream job, if you’re the right person, I’m offering your pathway to a senior leadership role. If you want to visualise it, this is what it would look like: Marketing Manager → Head of Marketing → Marketing Director / CMO.
Don't just send me only your CV or another generic cover letter that won’t impress me or allow you to show how excellent you are.
I would prefer that you also write me a personal letter and complete the application questions to show me evidence of what you've built and achieved. Click on this link to submit your application.
If you're as good as I’m hoping you are, I’ll make the recruitment process worth your time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best Wishes,
Olatomide
